Is your pet allowed in your rental property?

You have a right to a private life. Our position is that a landlord cannot simply ban a pet. But the landlord has the freedom to choose the most suitable tenant. As a result, prospective tenants with pets are often rejected.

When can the landlord refuse you or ask you to get rid of your pet?

  • If the property is not suitable for the type or the amount of pets. Example: 3 large dogs in a studio.
  • If the pet causes nuisance to your neighbours. Do you live in an apartement? Then there will be odor or noise nuisance more quickly.
  • If your pet causes damage to the home.
